All About Me

Hello, and a big welcome to my website!

My name is Robyn Amelia, I'm 28, and I'm a makeup artist based in Elgin, Moray.

I am a fully qualified makeup artist and I graduated in 2020 from GlamCandy Aberdeen - an SQA accredited independent makeup college. I also have over 5 years of experience in the industry.

Would you believe that makeup wasn't always something that I was always interested in? In fact, it wasn't until becoming a mum at 22 that I became fully invested in makeup!

When I became a mum, I felt like I lost a lot of who I was. I absolutely love being a mum, but I didn't want to just be seen as one. I wanted to explore who I was, my creative side, and make something of myself to make my little girl proud.

That is where makeup came in!

I started off by following tutorials on YouTube and applying looks on myself, then, when I felt confident and skilled enough, I began doing makeup for friends and family. I discovered that I had a genuine passion and skill for makeup, and I wanted to take it further.

In Aberdeen, where I'm originally from, there is an independent makeup college called GlamCandy. I did a lot of research about them, and I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted from makeup and where I wanted it to take me. I wanted to be completely sure about pursuing a career in makeup, and I saw that, along with their SQA Accredited Higher National Certificate course, they also did introductory courses. I took the plunge and signed up for their Introduction to Makeup course in late 2019 - this covered everything from the basics to bridal and full glam.

I loved my introductory course, and it helped me decide that I wanted to go ahead with the HNC course. In January 2020, I began my HNC.

During my HNC, I feel like I truly thrived, and I loved every second of it. I was able to study under some incredible makeup artists. Two of the makeup artists that tutored me were Clarisse Morieux and Amanda McCarthy - to this day, they remain my biggest idols and inspirations. I met some incredible people during my course, and I made good friends for life.

I qualified at the end of August that year, and I was so shocked to learn that I had earned an A grade. This will always be one of my greatest achievements!

Since then, I've had an amazing time since qualifying!

I've met so many wonderful people in the industry and as clients. I've been part of fashion shows and photoshoots, been noticed by some of my favourite brands, and 2024 has been the busiest year for me so far! This summer, I have numerous bridal clients, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me.

Looking at all I've achieved so far, it's so strange to think about what I was like ten years ago with makeup.

I was always a bit of a tomboy growing up, and even now to an extent. Makeup for me was winged eyeliner, mascara, and dark lipstick were as far as I went - maybe some false lashes if I was feeling fancy! If someone came near me with any kind of foundation, contour, or setting powder I would've most likely cried.

Now I can't get enough of all makeup!

I want to thank you for taking the time to visit my website, and reading through this page!

Lots of love,

Robyn x
